BARBARA THOMPSON
Dear Vendramin family: Thank you for sharing such a wonderful soul with a world which so badly needs people who care. Donna was that person. While we never met in person, my heart broke upon learning of her passing. Donna was a key source of strength and resilience throughout efforts in the Black community to establish the “Helpline for Black-Canadian youth.”
During those years when we almost gave up trying, Donna’s encouragement was the source of strength we needed. Safely stored are words of encouragement she shared along the way: Always professional you said, “I hope this gives you strength and hopefulness on this day...I think that the possibilities of getting new sources of support are very good over time. Plan the work...work the plan :)
Oh how I wish you were here to see your longstanding support turn into now Canada’s “National Helpline for Black Canadian youth.” You Dear Donna was the light along the path that kept us trying in spite of the repeated setbacks and disappointments. Oh how I wish you were here to see the tremendous positive impact you made. Your passionate caring about a vibrant, multiculturalism across Canada will resonate in many hearts for years to come. Thank you for sharing with diverse communities of visionaries. Indeed, you are the true visionary! I will be forever grateful we crossed paths.
