Rob and my family
I served with Rob and we became very close, first on course then we both got posted to Cold Lake. My children loved him and he loved kids, mine included. They loved going to Bobbert's house to visit and would call him out of the blue and make arrangements to play beach volleyball on the Xbox. He always went shopping and made sure my girls, Parris and Sheridan, had their share of sugary treats. He would make them Coke floats and they would experiment on how pop rocks would react in different drinks.
Anyone who knew Rob knew of his love of books. He and my oldest, Parris, shared a very special bond in their voracious appetites for books. He did not give up books ever but for my daughter he gave up his 3 in a series (at that time) Harry Potter books. He did this only after discovering she had read a Michael Creighton book and he questioned her (she was 7) to gauge her comprehension. He was satisfied that she understood and realized that she was like him. It was a very serious moment between the two and she solemnly vowed to forever treasure them. To this day she treasures the Harry Potter series and has read and re read them countless times over the last 11/12 years.
I will truly miss his brilliant mind.
To the Giblin family, he spoke very highly of all of you and was most proud to be an uncle. We grieve with you on this solemn day and keep you in our prayers.
