Grant Thompson
Like many, I have been thinking about my many memories of Zbig this week. I don’t recall when we first introduced ourselves but I know we were both part of a very confused group of fresh students at the Faculty of Forestry in September of 1975.
I remember his very odd upright style of quarterbacking and running with a football.
I still remember the two words of Polish that Zbig taught us: hot-doggy and hambugah. (I think they were a Hamilton variation of Polish).
I remember his very BIG brothers, Chris and Andy, stopping by to check up on him and to make sure he was still going to class.
I remember his parents dropping by with their CARE packages from Hamilton.
I remember it was Zbig who introduced us to polish sausage and polski ogorkis.
And of course I remember the first time he introduced us to Marnie who, just like in the movies, he said he was going to marry some day.
Although I have not seen Zbig for over 30 years I will still miss him deeply.
