Beloved husband of 62 years to Elisa “Elide” Stradiotto (nee Castellan). Loving father of Franco, Gina (David Wickenden) and Franca Perrin. Cherished Nonno of Adam (Krista), Andrew (Pam), Kevin (Katheryn), Craig (Marissa), Alissa, Brianna, Daniel and Ian. Bisnonno of Brayden, Bryson, Jaxson and William. Predeceased by his parents Gildo and Ottilia Stradiotto (nee Alberton) and brothers Leo and Ivo. Survived by Tiziano, Giulio, Plinio, Angelina, Ersilia, Gemma, Elsa and their spouses in Italy. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and in Australia. He will also be missed by his dear friends Tony Campagnaro (Joanne predeceased) and Bruno Pigozzo (Silvanna).
Luigi was born in Ramon Di Loria,Treviso, Italy on June 23rd, 1931. In the early fifties he moved to Australia in search of greater work opportunities. After establishing himself, he asked the love of his life Elide from Costello di Godego to marry him. After a month’s journey on a ship Luigi and Elide were married on November 26, 1955 in Adelaide, Australia. In the winter of 1959, he immigrated to Sudbury, where he became a long time resident of the West End, a lifelong member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the Caruso Club and the Associazione Veneta. He worked as a pipe fitter/welder with the Local 800 Steam Fitters and Plumbers Union but also owned his own business, Metalcraft where he would design metal furniture and railings. Luigi was a very intelligent, thoughtful patient man, who was very handy and artistic. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading the paper, making wine and sausages. He loved spending time with the many friends he made in Sudbury that soon became family, enjoying many social events and family gatherings. He loved to eat anything Elide made with great gusto!
The most important thing to Luigi was his family; he always had us laughing with his endless humour. He was an amazing husband, father and Nonno who will be painfully missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Manor for their care and compassion.
