SENCHUK, Maria (nee Kulichenko)

In loving memory of Maria (Kulichenko) Senchuk, 94 years, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Pioneer Manor, Sudbury. Beloved daughter of Hrytsko and Paraska (nee Syatko) Kulichenko both predeceased in Ukraine. Beloved husband of Alexander Senchuk predeceased 2006. Dear mother to Walter (Joanne), Vera (Denis), Alex, Nick all of Sudbury, and Helen Yaschyshyn (David) of Timmins, Nadia Lanteigne of Quebec, Elsie Moxam (Allan), John Elchyson (predeceased), and Don Elchyson (Sara) of Peterborough.
Very beloved and special Baba to Cassandra, Nicholai, Natasha, Sophia, Alexa and Anton, Stephanie and Cristina. Grandmother of Jennifer, Ryan, Darryl, Ean.
Maria was born April 25, 1923 in Myrhorod, Poltava Oblast, Ukraine. During the Second World War, she was forced to leave her homeland as a teenager to work in a labour camp in Germany. She fled to France, then settled in Canada in December, 1948. She endured and overcame many challenges in life which gave her incredible resilience. Being surrounded by family brought her the most happiness. All her children are tremendously dear to her heart.

Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Friends may call between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, on Tuesday September 19th, Panakhyda 7:00pm. Funeral Mass in St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 190 Baker Street, Sudbury, on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 9:30am with the Rt. Rev. Protopresbyter Mikolaj Sidorski officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery, Sudbury. Donations to St. Volodomyr’s Ukrainian Church Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
