Andy Rickaby
Dear O'Grady Clan,
It is with a heavy heart I write this note. We were deeply saddened to hear of Carl's passing. Although most of us have reluctantly moved away from Long Lake, many (too many mention) vibrant wonderful memories will live on and add to the folk lore of Long Lake. Carl, Coleen and indeed all of you, were the glue that brought our enclave of campers together for so many years. Whether it was work parties on the road, corn roasts, water skiing, dock building, sauna raising, impromptu rescues (several), fishing trips, canoe trips, berry picking and the list goes on.
He was a principaled man of utmost integrity and conviction, a loving father and husband, a generous friend and neighbour. A man I personally held in high esteem along with my own father and George MacMaster. A mentor to me on many wilderness trips and truly our saviour one day when Terry, Mark and I got caught up the creek in a terrible thunderstorm..
His booming voice and indelible spirit will live on in the annals of our
Long Lake memories. The ones I hold dearest.
Kindest Regards and Deepest Sympathies,
