In Memory of
Joan Constance Ahola (nee Doran),
June 21,1937- September 23, 2016. 79 Years.

Loving wife of 35 years to Oliver Eric Ahola (predeceased 2007). Oliver was the love of Joan's life. Cherished daughter of Philip and Elsie (Simpson), Doran (both predeceased). Survived by her daughters Sheila Lalancette (Mark), and Lorie Gilchrist (Dale). Dear Sister of Carol Pidgeon (Gerry predeceased), Bruce Doran (predeceased) (Betty Ann), Heather Doran Spark (Walter Mariga predeceased), and Stewart Doran (Sherry). Special stepmother to Donald Ahola (Elaine), Robert Ahola (Denise), and Richard Ahola (predeceased) (Nancy). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and her kitty-cat "Bella".

Joan was a trained Bell Canada operator where she worked for many years. She enjoyed talking with people and found her ideal occupation working as the receptionist/switchboard operator at the Sudbury Star for 30 years. Joan was a very loving, caring and kind person who adored animals and frequently visited the cats at Whiskers Kitty Cat Shop. She loved singing and would often volunteer her time for 'sing-alongs' at St. Josephs Villa with her sister Heather. She was an active member of the 111 Larch St. Seniors Club and the Sudbury South Seniors Club in Sudbury. Her other passions included "Young and the Restless", "Wheel of Fortune", and "The Price is Right". Joan will forever be fondly remembered for her selfless nature, extreme generosity, and her positive, uplifting influence she had on everyone she came into contact with. Joan and Oliver, together again. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant". In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whiskers Kitty Cat Shop, All Peoples United Church, or The Kidney Foundation.

Memorial Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St. Sudbury, Sunday October 2nd, 2016 at
1 p.m. Family and friends may gather at 12 noon.
