Gisèle Lapointe
Gisèle Lapointe
December 16, 1945 to June 22, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gisèle (Bertrand) Lapointe announces her passing on Wednesday June 22, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gisèle will be forever remembered by her loving husband and best friend Bruno, their children Tammi (Mike) Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona and Rodney (Brenda) of Toronto, her quasi-adopted son Jordan (Alison) Fois as well as her very special grand-children Alyx, Emma, Tyler and Jake. Gisèle leaves behind her loving sisters, Denise (Ernie) Pelletier of Ottawa, Éliane (Gaëtan) Laforge of Sudbury and her brother Ronald (Hélène) of Hamilton. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters in law, Vivianne (Claude) Roy, and Suzette (Charlie) Lapalme and brother in law Bernard Lapointe (Aline). Gisèle was predeceased by her parents Imelda and Télesphore Bertrand, her sisters Lorette (Don Johnson/Ron King) and Murielle (Johnny) Toporowski and by her brothers Roland (Marie-Ange/Nola), Rhéal (Lucille), Normand (Denise) and brother in law Ronald Lapointe (Rhéa). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Gisèle was a long time resident of Sudbury and for many years she worked at Great-West Life Insurance before she and her husband started their own automotive company, Bruno’s Alignment which they successfully ran for 26 years before retiring. She was an incredibly loving and giving person who loved spending time with her family, in particular her four grand-children, whom she adored and cherished. Everyone was always welcomed into Gisèle and Bruno's home for planned gatherings and even more so for spontaneous and lengthy evenings.
At Gisèle’s request, her immediate family & friends will gather to hug, laugh and celebrate life. Her service will be a private event. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Gisèle may be made to a charitable donation of your choice. Pursuant to her wishes and her realization throughout her illness of how easily family, friends and special occasions can be taken for granted, she would urge everyone to cherish every day with those you love.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Dr. Walton and her staff and specifically to nurses Cynthia Duguay and Alison Purcell for the outstanding support and care given to Gisèle during her final but peaceful journey.
Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
