Salo, Viesti (Johnson) - With sadness, we announce the passing of a dear sister, aunt, and friend in her 91st year, Friday, May 13th, 2016, at Extendicare York, Sudbury.
Viesti will be sadly missed by her sisters Taimi Paivio (Ray predeceased), Elvi Petryna (Bill predeceased), and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Eino, son Earl, parents Riika Lovisa Nummela and Charles (Kalle) Johnson, siblings and their spouses, brother Bill (Aino Elenius), sister Katri Charsley (Oliver), brother Leo, sister Aili Wainio (Kusti), brother Karlo, brother Raymond (Kaija Kivisto), and two little sisters, Ethel and Helvi.
Viesti will be remembered as a warm and gentle person. A lady with a welcoming smile when one came to visit.
Throughout her many years, life was not always easy for Viesti, but she dealt with these challenges, as with her death, with courage and dignity.
Viesti enjoyed country rides, with nature and all its beauty. Her eyes lit up when she saw children and pets at play.
She was contented and happy during her stay at York. She especially enjoyed the activities (the parachute exercises, sing songs, and monthly birthday celebrations).
We appreciate and thank the York Team for caring for and helping Viesti during these past years.
We are grateful for the support that was given to family as well as Viesti during these past difficult days. The hard work and thoughtfulness shown by the staff members was phenomenal and will always be remembered. They are the angels that held us together.
Precious memories of Viesti will remain in our hearts forever.

Friday, May 20th, 2016 at 11:30am.
(Friends may gather after 10:30am Friday).
Interment in the Park Lawn Cemetery.
