Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital, Elliot Lake.
Beloved husband of Audrey (Zettler) Mitchell predeceased 2002. Loving father of Robert “Bob” (Deana predeceased) of Washington State, Nancy (Jim Cluff) of North Bay, Judy (Ron Robitaille) and Bill (Lorraine) both of Sudbury and Lynn (Dereck Birtch) of Waterloo. Cherished grandfather of Rob, Scott, Kim, Wendy, Tamara, Heather predeceased, Brian, Sarah, Aaron, Jeffrey, Steven, Lisa, Amanda, Ian, Megan and 20 great grandchildren. Dear son of George and Jessie Mitchell both predeceased. Dear brother of Elsie and Betty both predeceased. Special friend of Dubi. Sadly missed by Barry Zettler (Lisa) and children, the nieces, nephews and friends in Elliot Lake.
Born in Scotland, Fred served with the RCAF during World War II. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 546 Lockerby. Fred was honoured to be the first of three generations of fighter pilots. He was proud to have worked for over 30 years with the City of Sudbury Fire Department, serving as Chief. He enjoyed his family and spending time at his camp on Trout Lake and winters in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
