KOVALA, Aarne Tuomas – In loving memory of Aarne Tuomas Kovala, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, October 30 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Anja (Roiha). Cherished father of Tom (Carita Lanner), John, predeceased 2004, (Judith Kovala), Mark (Kelly Reilly), and Anna Liisa (Michael Jensen). Cherished Pappa of Lennie, Leif, Julia (Joe Beverly), Stephanie, Andrew, Benjamin, Mia, Jillian, and Kieran. Treasured uncle of many nieces and nephews in Canada and Finland.
From his youth as a sailor in Finland, his travels across Canada raising smokestacks, and his work constructing homes and buildings in Sudbury, Aarne brought energy, determination, and sisu to every project. Aarne loved spending time at his camp on Lake Panache surrounded by friends and family. He will be remembered for his cheerful personality and easy laugh.
Funeral Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. The service will follow the visitation on November 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the R.J. Barnard Chapel. Donations to Finlandia Village or SISU Foundation.
