Charles Cook, 75, of Onaping, Ontario passed away peacefully at Maison McCulloch Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on September 29th, 2018. Charles was born on December 26, 1942 and was raised in Killarney Ontario to Charles Cook and Clara (Tyson) DeLamorandiere (Alfred) both predeceased.
He left Killarney at 18 to work in the gold mines at Pickle Crow, Ontario where he met and married the love of his life, Mary (Williams) Cook. They moved back in 1965 to Sudbury and then Onaping, where he worked at Falconbridge Nickel Mines until he retired in 1994. Charles enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and woodwork. He loved taking yearly trips back to Pickle Lake and Weagamow Lake in Northern Ontario. He was looked up to by many because of his diverse knowledge of cars, woodworking and most household jobs. A real jack of all trades. He was a true family man, and loved spending his days with his wife and family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Williams) Cook, son Ernie Cook of Levack, daughter Sandra DeCou (Shawn) of Onaping, grandchildren Brett, Morgan, Troy, Hunter, Alicia, Tiffany, his 2 brothers Gary Cook (Helen), and Allan Cook (Elaine) and his sister Alice Sauve (Greg) as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family and his loving cat Myla who was a great companion to him every day.

At Charles’s request, there will be a graveside service at Maplecrest Cemetery on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 at 1pm - friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
