Condolences

Condolence From: Tom Adams
Condolence: Vicky – I am so sorry to hear recently that Mark had passed away. Although I only knew him as a hockey teammate, I felt as though I had lost a true friend. His quiet sincerity and kindness will be missed in a world where those traits are so desperately needed. After Mark left our team, we were never able to recapture the camaraderie and simple joy of playing together we had when Mark was a part of it. Mark was never forgotten and we often commented over the past 2 years that even more than his hockey skills, it was his ability to unite us that made him so valuable. Mark, this Labatt’s for you.

Condolence: Vicky, girls and extended family. I was lucky to have known and worked with Mark at both Stantec and AMEC. He was a great guy with an amazing wit. My best memory of Mark was the annual Stantec hockey draft and how he would pick long shots--including Maple Leaf players--and always taking some good-natured ribbing from the rest of us for doing so. He clearly cheered for the underdog. Right now, I am thinking about you, Rachel, Elizabeth and the rest of Mark's family at this very sad time. I am praying that you find strength, peace and acceptance for a unexplainable event. Give the girls a big hug and let them know that Mark touched a lot of people in the engineering field. He was professional in the very best sense of this word.

Condolence: Vicky, I remember meeting you and Mark at the rodeo here in Edmonton. Even though you were not rodeo fans, you had adopted the attitude "When in Edmonton, do as the Edmontians do..." Mark was always willing to try new things, a great engineer, and I really enjoyed working with him at Stantec.

Condolence From: Scott and Jennifer Hinterthuer and family
Condolence: Vicky - I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. While I have tried to look into at least myself coming up to pay my respects to you, Don and Deva and the family, I'm afraid my passport has expired and US customs does not have anything in place for this type of situation. I am SO sorry that I will not be able to attend, but my vow to you now is that I *WILL* be up at some point soon to pay my respects and visit Mark's grave. In the meantime, *PLEASE* let us know if you, the children, or the family need ANYTHING - and I mean ANYTHING. Jennifer, the girls, and I love you all so much and pray God's blessings on you, the children, and the family during this time. -Scott, Jennifer, Hannah, and Abigail Hinterthuer Bentonville, AR USA GO HOGS!!!

Condolence From: Angie Zemanek (Angie Bevel)
Condolence: Vicki, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mark was a fantastic person, and one of the hardest working students I knew during grad school at the U of A. Some nights, he would be up so late running his landfill filtration tests in the lab, but that just showed his dedication and determination in finishing his research! May God bless you and comfort you and your girls at this most difficult time. Love and prayers, Angie Zemanek and family (Angie Bevel)

Condolence: Vicky. My deepest sympathies to you and the girls. I enjoyed working so much with Mark at MWH in Cleveland. He left a lasting, positive and motivating impression on so many folks in the office. He was always inspirational, humorous and focused in everything that he did. I'll never forget his humor when he gave me a "Hockey for Dummies" book when I re-located to Denver from Cleveland. He knew that I'd need the book when entering a hockey-rich community like Denver. Please know that my prayers are with you all. Love, Rob
