Obituary for Paul Emile Gauthier

Paul Emile Gauthier
In Loving Memory of
Paul Emile Gauthier
94 years
Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care.
It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on June 7, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Continuing Centre after a brief illness at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband of Bruna (Pagan) Gauthier predeceased 1994. Loving father of Paulette, Laura (Charles MacDonald), and Mark. Cherished grandfather of Angie (Steven Blanchard), Anthony, Jodi (Kyle Kauppi),Jessica (predeceased). He will be forever missed by his great grandchildren, Halie, Hayden, and Hudson. Dear son of Gerry and Laura Gauthier both predeceased. Eldest brother of Rhoda, Margaret, and Paul Jr., predeceased by Blanche, Charlie, Johnny, Bernadette, and Lucy. Paul will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.

At the young age of 18, Paul served our country proudly during WW2 as a Private with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Division. Upon his return he married the love of his life and settled in Whitefish, where he and Bruna raised three beautiful children. Paul had a successful career at Falconbridge as a miner and after retirement became a school bus driver with Phippens Bus Lines. In his younger days Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his grandson, Anthony. Often you would see Paul puttering around his yard tinkering on a project. Paul loved to be outdoors and would often be seen sitting in his gazebo watching the Hummingbirds.

“Are we going to Papa’s tonight?” Was a phrase we all heard regularly growing up, It was a place where he saw his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow-up and play. These are the memories we need to hang on to, the ones that will stay with us forever. You were kind and caring and touched the heart of every single person you knew. The memories we have of you will stay in our hearts forever, we are so lucky to have many with you. Papa you will be missed by many people, and no one will ever forget you. We will all love you forever.

At Paul’s request there will be no public visitation or service. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In honour of Paul’s service to our country and honouring his legacy, donations to the Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
