Obituary for Gabriel Lawrence Belleau

Gabriel Lawrence Belleau
In Loving Memory of
Gabriel Lawrence Belleau
Born July 18, 1942, died May 16, 2018 at his residence.

Beloved husband of Cynthia (nee Nebonaionoquet). Loving father of Ian Nebonaionoquet (Naomi), Erin Nebonaionoquet (Andy Nootchtai), Keith Belleau, Kim Belleau, Krista Belleau, Wanda Kagige (Darin), and Kevin (predeceased). Gabe was a grandpa to 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He will be especially missed by Papa’s Girls, Mattea, Marri-Ona, Sabrina, Tessa, and Myah. Dear son of George and Mary (nee Larose) Belleau both predeceased. Loving brother of Joe Belleau (Louise), Albert Belleau (Frances), Cid Belleau, Elmer Belleau, Eileen Thibault (Rod predeceased), Verna Belleau, Christine Scheck predeceased, and Mary Boyer predeceased. Dear son in law to Sam and Noella Nebenionquit (both predeceased). Dear brother in law to Gregory Nebenionquit (Connie), John Nebenionquit, Eric Nebonaionoquet, Josephine Canard (Joseph), Nancy Canard, Bertha Wabegijig (Dennis predeceased), Fred Nebenionquit predeceased (Karen), Herb Nebenionquit predeceased, Steve Nebenionquit predeceased, Welland Nebenionquit predeceased, Mary Jane Shawbonquit predeceased (Elmer), and Lily-Mae Brideau predeceased. Gabe was uncle to many nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his life for Connie, Patti, Crystal, Monica, Angeroni, Roberta, Dwayne, Noella, Sid, and Jason. Gabe will be especially missed by his loyal canine companion, Della.

Gabe worked at INCO for 30 years until retirement. In his glory days, he loved taking the field with his men’s fastball team and travelling to tournaments. He also loved to play blooperball and appreciated the camaraderie of the team sport. He was a true sportsman and competitor. He liked playing bingo and enjoyed his trips to the casino, where you would find him playing his favourite game, Keno. Gabe loved his home life, you would often find him in the backyard playing horseshoes, or at the kitchen table playing cards. There were many games of “spoons” played at that table. Gabe loved all sports; bowling; pool; but more than anything he cherished spending time with Cynthia, the love of his life. You would often find them sitting on the couch together in the evening, watching their favourite team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
