Obituary for
Conrad James Miron
In Loving Memory of Conrad James Miron. Professional Photographer, Avid Golfer, Badminton Player, Fisherman. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 4th, 2018 at St Joseph’s Villa, Sudbury.
Born in Sudbury on January 5th 1941 to Arthur and Eleanor (Reynolds) Miron (both predeceased). Con had many fond memories of being raised in Coniston and Creighton and worked for INCO for 4 years. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Gloria Galardo. Shortly after, he was laid off from INCO and joined his new father and mother in-law, Pasquale and Marisa Galardo in their photography business. Conrad would welcome 3 sons into the world, Douglas, Craig and Bradford and loved spending time with them fishing and along the rink boards at the West End playground. He was also a proud Scout leader and loved spending time being in the outdoors.
He became partners in the photography business in 1964 and the name was changed to Galardo and Miron Photographers. In 1979, Con and Gloria purchased the business when Pasquale retired. As one of the founding members of the Professional Photographer’s Studio Owners associations of Sudbury, Con was also active in the Professional Photographer’s association of Ontario and Canada. He went on to earn his Craftsman of Photographic Arts in 1989 and then his Masters of Photographic Arts in 1992. Retiring in 2001, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, golfing. He and Gloria wintered in Florida with many dear friends. He was a true gentleman and known for being a gentle man with calm demeanor and positive infectious outlook on life and active in the St Clement’s and Our Lady of Hope parishes.
His happiest times were spent with his family and entertaining friends at the camp on Long Lake enjoying, bocce and fishing with his children and grandchildren. Sadly missed by his golfing buddies at Stone Hill (Sudbury Hyland’s) golf course where he was a marshal and starter plus where he got a hole-in-one.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Gloria (nee Galardo), his sons Douglas (Sharon), Craig, and Bradford (Diane) and his 4 awesome grandchildren, Perry, Paige, Sydney and Mitchell. Loved by many brothers and sisters including Ken (Cleo - predeceased), Elizabeth Cranmer (John), Robert (Susan), Sharon (predeceased), Joanne Forsythe –predeceased (Alan), Arthur Glenn (Sandy), Susan Smyth (Philip). He will also be missed by his brother and sister in-laws including Christine Jones – predeceased (Dennis), Sylvia Smith (Ron), Paul Galardo (Tammy) and was a great uncle and friend to his many nieces and nephews and cousins.
A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the many staff and caregivers at St Joseph’s Villa who made Con’s final years comforting, loving and fun.
