Iolanda Contini (Luciani)

Who passed away on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 in Sudbury surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fossacesia, Italy in 1934. She came to Canada in 1954, and on November 20 of that year became the beloved wife of Raffaele Contini in Sudbury. Loving mother of Nick (Emily Barisas), Gino (Ann) and Luciano (Julie). Much loved Nonna of Andrew, Nicholas, Allison, John and Peter. Predeceased by her parents Fioravante and Maria Luciani. Survived by her loving sister Italia Caporale (late Vincenzo) and many nieces, and nephews. Also survived by Nicola Luciani (Nella), Maria Cacchione (Antonio) and other loving cousins in Italy. Iolanda was an avid gardener and for most who knew her, “the best cook ever”. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, who she adored and who were the light of her life. Iolanda was a long-time devotee of St. Anthony of Padua Mission Aid, a faithful member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League.

At Iolanda’s request there will be no visitation. Entombment in the Civic Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint Anthony of Padua Mission Aid or the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury would be greatly appreciated.
