Beloved wife of Wilfred Salo. Loving mother of Christine Vagnini (Peter), John Salo, Anna-Lisa Salo, Carolyn Gabel (Barry), and Andrew Salo (Donna). Cherished by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear daughter of Steven and Eva (Kalmo) Luciw both predeceased. Dear sister of Harry Luciw (Judy), Stella Maple (Robert), Tekla (“Teena”) Tolonen (Harry), and Fred Luciw (Claire) Dear sister in law of Viola Salo. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Helen’s heart and home were open to all. She was a devoted member of her church community at Waters Mennonite Church, Lively. She loved all sports, especially hockey. She was a proud supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Helen was a mother to all. She was happiest surrounded by her family and friends, sharing her laughter and home-cooked meals, especially her famous perogies, and cabbage rolls. She was very social, loved to pass on stories and had a good sense of humour. She was tireless in her gift of hospitality and selfless service to others.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bowen and Staff at the Northeast Cancer Center and the Palliative Care Unit at Health Sciences North.
Funeral Service in Waters Mennonite Church, Lively, Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in the Waters Cemetery. Reception to follow service at the Walden Arena. Donations to Waters Mennonite Church would be appreciated.
