Obituary for David Alexander Kilgour

David Alexander Kilgour
In Loving Memory
of
David Alexander Kilgour
The family announces with great sorrow his passing, peacefully in his sleep at (camp) Ella Lake, Sunday July 9, 2017 at the age of 70 years.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario on May 31, 1947, Dave was the cherished son of the late David James and Emma (Nepitt); loving husband of Jeannie (Wojciechowski) for nearly 48 years; cherished father of Brett (Angie) and Scott (Lindsey); doting “Grampa” of Sophie, Paige and Evelyn and dearest brother of Sandy (Rick) Komhyr, and Leslie (Tim) Carr. Dave will be lovingly remembered by many nephews and nieces, and sister and brother in laws.
Dave was a devoted family man, and was lovingly involved with his immediate and extended family, encouraging, supporting and inspiring all, in many aspects throughout their lives.
He had an innate ability to bring out the best in people and foster relationships with them and among them, and ALWAYS treated people the way he would want to be treated.
Dave was very proud of the accomplishments and successes of former students, and would often reminisce as he watched them fulfill their potential throughout their lives. Dave’s career as a teacher reached far beyond the classroom. His willingness to mentor and share his experience with others, in the way only Dave could, made him a respected resource and trusted voice throughout his family, vast network of colleagues, friends, former students and all who knew him.
Dave’s ultimate intention was always for his family, friends and community to benefit from his thoughts, ideas and actions. He loved working with various groups and individuals that he respected, to see his ideas and visions come to fruition. His passion and selfless devotion for all of his endeavours were driving forces throughout his life.
As a husband, father, brother, Grampa, uncle, friend, colleague, mentor and teacher (Sir), Dave will be remembered as a genuine, honest and loving man and will leave an irreplaceable void in many lives.
