Sorry to learn of John's passing. St. David School was a remarkable place to journey with John's presence. Known as "Sir" and his lab coat, JOhn was a remarkable and unforgettable presence of energy, enthusiasm, wisdom, quick wit and dedication. I was blessed to have worked with John for five years at the beginning of my teaching journey. Thank you for the signed and dedicated Jonathan Livingston Seagull text. Heaven is so bright. Bertilla, thank you for sharing John with us at St. David.

It is of course fitting that a donation is dedicated to promote education, as John was not only a teacher in profession, but taught many about the political process & many causes. I had the privilege of learning from John while working for him as a researcher on the Hill in 87-88, and I deeply treasure & value what I learned over those 2 years. My deepest condolences to Bertilla, Damien, Brendan, Declan, Derek, Emlyn & family.

In memory of a mentor, friend, and political ally. Thank you for instilling the values of putting people first. You were my biggest inspiration and fiercest supporter throughout my time as an NDP staffer. You will be missed, Sir.

St. David School was certainly blessed the day John became a member of the staff. He managed, through boundless energy, to instill in students / staff /parents that there was no limit to the progress to be made on any issue --you just put your mind to it , decide on a course of action and forge . All of this dynamic was enveloped with a profound sense of respect for the dignity of the individual . John was a force of good will and a mentor to young and adult alike. We became better.

Please accept my condolences and prayers. This bursary in his honour is most appropriate given his time and dedication to the young people at that school. It was a privilege to work with him during my time as Pastor of Holy Trinity.
