Obituary for Nelson Victor Allen

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Nelson Victor Allen, age 91 years, resident of Meadowbrook retirement community in Lively, ON to announce his peaceful passing on June 15, 2017, at the Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON.


Nelson was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on July 24, 1925. He protected Canada during WWII. He was an avid Skier and ski-patroller for 30 yrs. Nelson enjoyed life to the fullest. Active in volunteer work and a long-standing member, of the Royal Canadian Legion in Levack, Thunder Bay and Elliott Lake.


He was preceded by his wife “Bunny” Barbara Bernice Allen (May 2007), his daughter Susan Allen (April 2016) and son-in-law Cliff Roy (December 2015).


Nelson is survived by his children, Sandra Muzia (Fred Williams) of Sudbury, Robert Allen, Keith Allen (Dianne Leger) of Thunder Bay. Cherished Grandfather of Carol Chalk, Nora Allard (John), Mary Beynon, David Muzia (Jennifer) and Brent Allen. Special Great Grandfather of Jessica Coghill, Ashley Chalk, Alyssa Chalk, Mackenzie Beynon, Lindsay Beynon, Sarah Gauthier, Larry Gauthier, Beckett Muzia, Finnigan Muzia. Great-Great Grandfather of Coltyn Coghill, Alexis Coghill, Jacob Coghill of Saskatchewan and Joshua Chalk of Sudbury.


Cremation has taken place and there will be no public service but a private family memorial in Sudbury. There will be a celebration of life and internment in Thunder Bay, to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation in his memory for his wife and daughter would be greatly appreciated by the Family.
