Karen (Suutari) Fricker
It has taken me a week to ponder Charlie's passing. I knew it would be difficult and that it was inevitable but I was thinking about him just the day before he left. Strange forces in this world.
So many wonderful memories, Charlie was always the definition of a gentleman. Always kind and considerate and slightly 'proper' while fun loving. Be it on day trips and cookouts on the 'big lake' hauling wood cases of pop in glass bottles, baseball games and saunas (the great athlete that he was, he never let you feel lesser), doubles tennis games on the grass court and latterly even some singles at Whitefish - he loved to play more than he needed to win when he could have won easily pretty much all of the time.
I will miss chats over beers with he and my dad and Michael to rehydrate while recapping whatever game was played.
I recall how mortified he was when I joined in the chase of Sam - kicking off my convocation heels to run across the freshly dug potato field - as yet another porcupine had arrived on the scene. The look on his face was worth a little dirt (and Sam was saved!)
The world is a lesser place without his happy, steady presence. Sincere condolences to all of the family.
Is it just me, or can I hear Joyce's voice saying, "Now Charles...."
