Obituary for Nels Wayne Mogensen

In Loving Memory
of
Nels Wayne Mogensen
September 16, 1943 – September 5, 2015

Beloved husband of Muriel Mogensen. Loving father of Alex Mogensen (friend Vivian) and Ingrid Mogensen (friend Stephanne). Cherished grandfather of Amelia Mogensen. Dear son of Nels Peter Mogensen and Dagny Margaret Mogensen both predeceased. Dear brother of Hugh (Helen predeceased), Ken (Liz), Norman (Joan), and Doris McKoen (Ron). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wayne studied at the University of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, and the University of Caen in France. He was a professor and taught at the University of Alberta and Laurentian University. Later, he created and built the Mogensen Moccasin Company as well as Pow Wow Moccasins in Sudbury and the Trading Post in Wahnapitae. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995, which progressively slowed down his activities. He was a prominent member of the community and an active member of the MS Centre of Hope. He has many ongoing projects including the Peace Pole, whose dedication ceremony was held August 6th, 2015.

The family wishes to thank the Paramed PSWs and especially Ernest and Megan.
