Obituary for Robert "Bob" Spark

Robert “Bob” John Grant Spark

Beloved father of Robert Guthrie Spark, (Merideth) of Sudbury. Cherished son of Guthrie and Lenore (Gies) Spark both predeceased. Loving brother of James Reid Andrew Spark, (Marlene) of York, Pennsylvania. Dear uncle of James John Robert Spark of York Pennsylvania. Loving friend of Heather Doran Spark.
Born in Sudbury, he attended Elm St Public School, Sudbury High School, Laurentian University, and the University of Toronto. He worked for the Sudbury Board of Education at Lasalle Secondary School as a music teacher. A professional musician, he centered his life around music, playing with bands, teaching many students, and providing musical leadership at Knox Presbyterian Church and All People’s United Church. Bob was President of the Sudbury Federation of Musicians and past member of Kiwanis Club of Sudbury. He won many awards for piano, trumpet, and accordion performances. Bob studied under: Janetta Mustard; Karl Pukara; Emil First; Reginald Stewart of the University of Anne Arbour, Michigan; Clifford Poole, Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto; and Boris Berlin, Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto. When his health restricted his performing, music always remained in Bob’s heart. He will be sadly missed, but remembered for his quiet strength.
At Bob’s request there was no public visitation,. Graveside committal service at the family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, July 16th, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.
